6 steps to a successful farming project in France
1. Feasibility analysis
After our intake meeting, we start with a thorough assessment of your project’s economic and financial feasibility. Typical focus areas include:
- expected production
- volume of investment
- repayment capacity of the operation
We also conduct a legal and regulatory review of the land – including property rights, lease agreements and potential risks with the French SAFER. Planning to take over an existing company? Then we also perform a due diligence audit, including a comprehensive financial review.
2. Preparing the case
We help you choose the appropriate company structure and legal structure for your farming business, aligning it with any existing Belgian or Dutch companies you may have. There are many options, depending on your plans and business activities (e.g. SCEA, GAEC and EARL). Together, we define a realistic negotiation strategy that takes into account all agricultural, tax and legal requirements.
3. Purchase or acquisition
By now, your project is taking more concrete shape. At this stage, we assist with drafting a purchase agreement or letter of intent. We also prepare or review the preliminary sales agreement and coordinate with the notary. We make sure your dossier is correctly submitted to SAFER and apply for the necessary operating permits on time. For acquisitions, we also carry out comprehensive financial due diligence.
4. Financing
We prepare a bespoke business plan, including a presentation for banks. We also check whether you qualify for regional, national or EU subsidies.
5. Launch
We handle the legal and administrative incorporation of your business: registrations, incorporation documents, permits, MSA enrollment, transfer of grant application files, and more.
6. Follow-up and ongoing support
We continue supporting you even after launch. At Team AGRI, we provide additional assistance with:
- accounting
- tax returns
- payroll and social security admin
- PAC applications
- strategic advice for further growth or investments
